Security escorts

We provide an after-hours escort service to car parks, colleges and UWA accommodation immediately adjacent to the University.

If required, please contact Security on 6488 2222 and a uniformed officer will respond promptly to your call.

Students and staff - in circumstances where verbal communications is not possible, we urge you to download and use the SafeZone app. This app allows you to quickly and easily report an emergency, request assistance, or alert our Security team to your location. With just a few taps, you can get the help you need, no matter where you are on campus.

We provide a range of Security services on campus, including around-the-clock security patrols, safety escorts and an operations centre that is staffed 24 hours per day, seven days a week to provide a safe environment for you.

You can help ensure your campus is safe by playing a role in looking out for your own safety, and the safety of others.

Report any incidents or crimes in progress, suspicious individuals or activities at UWA to Security services on 6488 2222.

Features

With the SafeZone app you will be able to access:

  • First aid: Make a call when you or someone near you needs medical assistance.
  • Help: Request general, non-urgent help from UWA Security. They will be able to see your location and respond to your situation quickly.
  • Emergency: If you?re in immediate danger or need emergency help, raise an alert with UWA Security for a direct response.
  • Campus map: Get around campus easily by using the Crawley campus map feature.

SMS - when verbal communications is not possible


UWA Security has rolled out a new SMS service for students and staff in circumstances where verbal communications is not possible.

  1. Students and staff can send a brief SMS to 0438 739 744 (maximum of 160 characters), or add ?URGENT? in front of the message if immediate assistance is required.
  2. There may be a short delay of 1 to 2 minutes before receiving the auto-message: `Thank you! Message received by UWA Security?.
  3. A Campus Security Officer will then follow up

Patrols


We conduct routine preventative and reassurance patrols of the University building and grounds, including:

  • perimeter and interior of buildings
  • parking areas and pathways
  • when necessary conducting individual identification checks to safeguard staff, students and University property

Security Operations Centre


The Security Operations Centre is staffed 24 hours per day, seven days a week to provide emergency and other security services to the University community, and is the hub for all operational activities that occur on campus.

They register all service calls or alarms received at the Security Operations Centre, provide appropriate response, and record and track the incidents.
